What is Microdermabrasion? Air-driven sand like crystals are used to gently clean and remove unwanted blemishes from the skin surface. The process is a safe, gradual treatment preformed in multiple sessions to improve the skin without the harsh effects of chemicals and some deeper laser procedures.
Fine layers of skin are gently removed during each microdermabrasion session. There are now over 30 companies making microdermabasion units therefore the names may vary. Some of the common names are Ultrapeel, Megapeel, Parisian-peel, California-peel.
Is it painful? Microdermabrasiona can be performed with no anaesthesia and very minimal discomfort.
Which skin problems can be improved with microdermabrasion?

How many treatments will be necessary? The Microdermabrasion is a gradual process that requires multiple treatments. Some superficial conditions including: Shallow brown age spots, Tired aged skin, and Large pores may improve in a few treatment sessions. Fine lines and wrinkles, Sun damaged skin, and other deeper skin problems will require more treatments. For most conditions a series of 5-6 treatments is initially recommended. there is no limit to the number of Microdermabrasion that can be performed if necessary. It is important that a one week recovery time be allowed between each Microdermabrasion session.
Are there any adverse effects? Minimal temporary redness or flushing may be present after an Microdermabrasion. Your face will look like you have just been exercising giving you a slight flush with a healthy glow. If any scabbing or crusting does appear, it will be minimal and can be treated with gentle skin cleansing and an application of topical antibiotic ointment such as Polysporin cream. Your regular make up can be used immediately after the peel if you wish.
Can it be used on all skin types? Yes. One of the great advantages to the Microdermabrasion is its safe application in all skin types. Unlike chemical peels and some laser procedures, the Microdermabrasion can be used safely in all skin types with minimal risk of skin pigment problems. This is possible because the Microdermabrasion is very gentle and involves removing superficial layers of skin with very little damage to the normal skin pigment. The face is the focus area of treatment, but the neck, upper chest, forearms and the back of the hands can be treated.
How do I prepare for a treatment? To be treated, the skin should be clean, dry and free of oil before the Microdermabrasion is performed. The skin should be free of rashes, sunburns and other irritations before Microdermabrasiones are performed. If you have underlying skin diseases, allergies, or other problems, we can help treat these conditions before your Microdermabrasion treatments.
How often can it be performed? We recommend one or two weeks in between treatments for most conditions. Depending on the skin condition being treated, a shorter or longer treatment schedule may be recommended. Pre-consultations are required before Microdermabrasions are performed. Microdermabrasion of the face can be performed in 15 to 30 minutes.
